Silk & Saffron is a Singapore–based curator of antique rugs, vintage objects, and heritage textiles, with craft traditions rooted in Persian and Central Asian culture.

As a new venture bringing together objects with genuine age and provenance, the identity needed enough character to feel distinctive, but enough restraint to let the objects take centre stage.

I developed a bespoke wordmark alongside a family of symbols that could be used independently or together. A considered colour palette and custom approach to imagery completed the identity, creating a visual language that could extend across the collection, communications, and digital presence.

Each of the four symbols draws on geological strata: layers pressed by time, and surface patterns formed through process.

Garamond Premier is a contemporary revival of sixteenth-century type that retains subtle irregularities from the original hand-cut forms, giving it a crafted, tactile quality not often seen in modern serifs.
