Sealed is a new condom brand originating in Boston, USA. The founders needed a suitable wordmark to identify the brand, as well as a playful, relevant symbol. As a percentage of sales is donated to organisations that protect the oceans it was important to have some form of ocean theme on the packaging.
The bespoke wordmark has soft, rounded letters to match the texture of the product, with a solid weight to ensure the name stands out on store shelves.
For the symbol design, a side-profile of a seal introduced the added element of an S monogram. It’s a small touch that aids memorability. Experiments were done to format each letter of the Sealed name in a similar way, but it cheapened the overall look so the design of the symbol and wordmark were kept separate.
The most prominent part of the packaging is the name, followed by a changeable ocean-themed image to add flexibility as the brand grows. The seal symbol is on the back of the box and on each individual wrapper inside.
