Hello Robert,

You're right, this would make a good follow-up feature about when things don't work out, and how the client relationship ends. I hope all's well over there.

I really enjoy reading your blog. It could sound bad but this post actually encurages me in a way. Not because you didn't create a sucessful logo but because it shows that even the best of the best have to work in an imperfect world. I think the logo you used for the banner is great, but ultimately it's the client who needs to be satisfied. The challenge I find is mainly self confidance in the work I do, it seems everyone likes my work more than me. I have yet to have a client not be setisfied to where the job is terminated (and praying never will). It would be nice to use this as an example of how you resolved the job in term of having to resort to a 'kill fee', referring them else where if you did, and any other things that only get used in this kind of turn out.

'cheers' (I'm a Yankee, we don't normally say that over here :-)

Welcome, Jamal, and you're right. This was one of the most difficult projects I've worked on. Dealing with clients is an art in itself, and I've learnt a lot since 2007.

All the best with your logo endeavours.

Just stumbled across your site yesterday for the first time, while looking for inspiration for my first "real" logo design (real as in actually putting thought into the shapes, fonts and colors).

Great work and all, but I cant help but smirk at this client....he sounds like a real.....difficult person :P

This site is great and a real help to me in my process.

Thanks

I can quickly identify why your design has failed.

1. No gradient
2. No Shiny Reflections
3. It doesn't scream what the company "does".
4. It's not "simple" enough.

This is all said with tongue-in-cheek of course.
Thank you for sharing your process with us.

Ryan,

The client and I went our separate ways, as ultimately, he couldn't decide upon an outcome. Of course this was the last thing I wanted, and is something that very rarely happens, but in this case, the client received much more than his money's worth.

So what happened?

Have you tried drawing a circle with the word?

Make a circle with an arrow at the end pointing to he beginning and plac ethe letters around the perimeter - dabbled it up in paint, looked alright.

Thanks John,

Never too late, as I'm forever a student of design. Thanks very much for lending me your thoughts, even if this idea is one that's in the past.
