We’ve just passed 1,000 comments!

CD arm patch

During the short life of this blog, you’ve helped me to learn more about the subject I love, so I’m extending this little thanks to all of you who have participated along the way.

At the time of writing, the comment count is 1,005, spanning 144 blog posts contained within 22 categories. A small milestone in the greater scheme of things, but a milestone all the same.

Congratulations to Aaron, of miLienzo.com, who posted this blog’s 1,000th comment! Aaron recently published his first custom WordPress theme – Fresco – a goal I aim to achieve in the not too distant future.

It’s been my great pleasure reading your thoughts and opinions, and I do hope you’ll stick around for as long as I continue publishing my design reflections.

  1. As always, the pleasure is mine. You’ve got a great blog here with a good little following.

Your aims for this blog seem to be very closely aligned to what I’m trying to get out of blogging, and your content is always very relevant to what I want to read – I feel very at home here.

Many thanks, and I’m sure I’ll be sticking around.

  2. Hooray for little victories! The milestones we reach, the people we meet, the things we learn – these are all things that remind us that blogging is a good venture – in more than one way.

    Great work David!!

  3. Aaron, Char, it’s people like you that make blogging a worthwhile experience. Thanks very much.

  4. Wow,

1000 comments. Well done. Can i just ask though, how come you dont get any spam? My blog is being continuously hit by spam, and its really annoying.

Also david, one of my blogging storied about the hp gaming console reached the home page on digg, and i got 3000 visitors in 4 hours, and my server diddnt carsh at all! :)

  5. Andy, the Akismet plugin for WordPress has protected me from almost 3,000 spam comments so far. It’s very effective.

Sometimes however, I have to check through it’s spam collection as there are some legit ones that should’ve been let through. What blogging software do you use?

Also, who do you host with? Is your site on a shared or dedicated server? That’s great you’re site stayed up during a Digg parade.

  6. That’s awesome! You blog popularity has grown huge in a short amount of time. Congrats!

  7. Congratulations, David! I’m sure the manner in which you handle your comments has a lot to do with your success. Every comment gets a follow up, it seems. Nice. A lot of bloggers could learn from you.

Oh, and I look forward to seeing your custom theme. How long do we have to wait?

  8. Congrats on 1000

  9. You’re doing a great job here, one of my favourite blogs.

  10. Thanks a lot guys! I wouldn’t have reached this far without you.

Ian, please don’t hold your breath on the custom theme. I’ll be giving it a shot very soon, but whether or not it comes to fruition is another question. I’ll certainly see what I can accomplish.

  11. Do you know who the author of the 1000th comment is? Did they win a car? You should profile them here, good publicity for them.

I too agree with the opinions regarding your quality. This is the main design blog I read.

I raise my glass to you and look forward to your 100,000th comment.

  12. Congrats David. What a nice milestone. Keep up the great work and excellent posts and we’ll keep you embedded in conversation.

  13. Congrats!

  14. Ed, I mentioned the author of the 1,000th comment in the post. It’s Aaron of miLienzo.com (quite a regular commenter these days, and 1st to comment on this post).

Unfortunately for Aaron there’s no car to giveaway. I’ll buy him a pint if he can make his own way to Edinburgh. How does that sound? He also gets a Creative Design Awards badge. ;)

Dawud, Boss, thanks for your congratulations.

  15. Wow, yeh i have made my blog from scratch. Did all the coding.

  16. I was secretly hoping there might have been a car or holiday to Mauritius involved… but I’ll settle for a pint next time I’m north of the border ;)

  17. From scratch? Nice work, Andy.

Aaron, I thought about offering a weekend break in Rome as I have a couple of tickets, but I know how busy everyone is and thought a quick pint would be more welcomed.

  18. Congratulations!

BTW, Did you pay for the Glasbergen comic? I really like his comics and follow them everyday but he is charging money for bloggers to use them =(

  19. Thanks ilker. I’d better find another image!

  20. CONGRATS DAVID!!!!! YEAH! A High Five from me.. Way to go ! I am a BIG FAN!

  21. Hi David,

    Great blog, well done.
So what was your very first post and comment – can you remember?
Having only recently started my blog I got a real buzz out of getting my first comment, its that confirmation that someone out there is interested in what your saying.

  22. Many thanks Lak, Tara.

My first post. Hmmmm. I’m probably ashamed of it, and wondering if I should remove my first ten or so posts. My blogging style has changed so much since I first began.

On my way to your blog now Tara.

i couldn’t miss congratulate you for this though!

  27. Hi bee,

It took about six months. I didn’t have a clue about blogging when I first started out so it took me a few months to get things right.

The hardest part was definitely the beginning in that respect, until I knew a few blogging tips.

I’m actually closer to 2,000 comments now, so there’s a kind of snowball effect.
