A few good fonts from Thinking with Type. Tens of thousands of digital typefaces are available for use on desktop computers. Most of them are junk. Here are a few nicely chosen fonts from a great typography resource.

Typography Articles and Essays from TypeCulture. A nice compilation of downloadable PDF articles and essays, with snippets to pique your curiousity.
Eric Gill got it wrong; a re-evaluation of Gill Sans from Typotheque. Quite a focused article, obviously, but it’s a revealing look at Gill Sans with some interesting alternatives.

Thanks for that, some useful fonts and nice not to have to search through hundreds of poor fonts to get to them.
Maybe one day I will get round to making one…
Thank you, bookmarked!!
Excellent list, David. I sometimes set up my Stumble settings to find such sites but I don’t have the time to create a comprehensible list… That’s really a pity, because they could really use as reference for many web users.
By the way, that gives me an idea: how long do you think it will take to create a Web encyclopaedia where to list only such resources and no crap? I think there is a real need for it. There is way too much useless content on the Web and that makes it really difficult to find genuine resources.
A good list to get stuck into, this is definitely something I need to start considering for future websites.
Jamie
Glad to offer something of interest.
Mig,
I love Stumble Upon, although haven’t been using it too much these days.
I’m not sure how long it’d take to create an encyclopaedia, but I reckon there’d be a few gray hairs by then! No doubt it’d be very useful. I don’t want to think about the amount of time I spend looking at useless websites.
Some well-chosen resources, David. An excellent round-up. Thank you.
David,
LifeClever posted a pretty good list of resources yesterday that you might like:

Great article!
Smashing Magazine haven’t talked about that before.
Thanks for sharing these links. I will visit them immediately coz I do like fancy fonts or fonts that look good.
Asgeir,
Thanks very much for linking to Life Clever. I’ll check it out.
Wallace,
There’s quite a lot that Smashing Magazine haven’t talked about, but I appreciate your comment.
Chase,
I’ve tried emailing you about the custom design you kindly offered, but your email address gives an auto-repsond permanent error.
How about this one?
Great collection, David. iA and A List Apart are sites I’ve recently begun subscribing to and have found them to be great design resources in general.
I haven’t ever really looked too far into typography beyond my own intuition, but have come across these resources/articles recently:
80 Beutiful Typefaces For Professional Design
Great Fonts for Web 2.0
I love learning new things about typography.
Interesting, the article on Gill Sans, I have always hated that font, save for the light faces. It’s just not proportionate for my tastes. I always thought I was just being a snob, but that article brings to light (though promoting another font) the parts of the font i find particularly horrible.
