  1. Thanks for the list David, great help.

Out of interest, how much time do you tend to put aside each day to keep up to date with what’s going on in the bid wide world?

  2. I enjoy Positive Space, and thanks to you Spoon Graphics has a new reader!

Richard, Peacock Carter’s last blog post…Web Design for Elvet Consultants of County Durham

  5. Totally would never make the list; but my blog features design, fashion, art, and inspiration from all realms. I’m a Communication Design student at Parsons and I think my blog gives a pretty good glimpse of what it’s like going to art school and being a student influenced by different sects of design while exploring many mediums (design is my interest but lately i’ve been psyched on collage/illustration/painting).

Appeals to the younger girls of design… not necessarily everyone.

  6. Inspiredology…. it has been live for over 6 months now and has grown quite a bit.. offers 2-3 posts a week of inspirational work from logos, business cards, web design, and etc….

  7. Great resource list of the best design blogs around! Thanks for creating this list. Didn’t found it before on your website Didn’t look very well, but you might want to consider putting a direct link at the top navigation bar to the resources. Why did you choose to rank the blogs in order of pagerank?

    Sander’s last blog post…SignSphere: July 2008

  8. Thanks for including Designer Daily in the list David!

    Mirko’s last blog post…Inspiring advertisements

  9. Thank you David for updating the list and for including JCD. Much appreciated. It really is a shame because there are so many other great design blogs out there, it is hard to get them all in just one list.

Jacob Cass’s last blog post…192 Creative, Smart & Clever Advertisements

  10. great list! I subscribe to almost every one of them. You can add Fuel Your Creativity to the list - :) Been growing steadily for the past 5 months, design blog for inspiration.

  11. Great list, and I keep up with many of the blogs as best I can. My own graphic design blog is still only a few weeks old, and I aspire to join such an honourable roll call someday. http://www.traceygrady.com/blog

  14. Edward,

You’re very welcome, and interesting question. I don’t set aside a specific amount of time each day, and it depends upon a number of factors (deadlines, menial tasks, curiosity levels etc.). Some days I don’t bother opening my feed reader. Other days I’ll check it more than once per day. Some days I’ll visit galleries and local events, or I could go a couple of weeks without much external design influence from around Edinburgh.

    Richard,

Chris, of Spoon Graphics, is a great guy, and I’m sure he’ll be glad to know you’ve subscribed.

    Jonathan, crazyleaf author,

    You’re both very welcome.

    Kate,

I enjoyed browsing your very diverse portfolio, so thanks for commenting, and keep up the great work.

    Chad,

I’ve visited a few times before, but overlooked it for some reason. I guess it’s hard to keep up with so many excellent offerings. Cheers.

    Sander,

The resource has been in my ‘popular posts’ section for some time now. Perhaps no-one looks there though. I wonder.

Google PR was chosen simply so the order wasn’t entirely up to me. I know it’s far from exact, and some very influential blogs appear to have PR penalties on them, but it seemed like a good idea at the time.

    Mirko, Jacob,

No worries at all. You deserve a mention.

    Adelle,

Keep up the great work with your blog, and thanks for the nudge.

    Tracey,

I’m sure if you stick with it, that your own articles will prove a great resource. Both for clients and designers.

    DT,

I am well, thanks. My hand’s looking ugly after some serious bruising, but the ibuprofen is doing it’s job. I hope you’re good too.

    Angie,

Paying a visit now, thanks for stopping in.

  15. Good idea to update your top 50 David. DWB continues to get hits even after all this time!

    cat’s last blog post…Testing…

  16. Thank you!! :)

I think personally there are two Davids, either that or he has found a way to shift time to enjoy 30 hours days.

I can’t understand how he finds the time to handle this blog, do his work, whilst keeping his finger on the pulse of the design world around him at the same time.

I only manage my blog and my work and I’ll admit my finger isn’t really on the design world as much as I would like it to be really.

  17. Thanks for the great list David,

I have visited this blog on a number of occasions, but have yet to post a comment yet.
I am subscribed to Blog Spoon’s that is one of my personal favourites, but theres a few new ones there I have yet to visit, so I thank you for them (:

  20. David,

Thanks again for the comment you sent before. Do you reckon I could design a new banner? Seeing as SI has changed :)

  21. Cat,

That’s fantastic how DWB still receives a little traffic. Long may it continue.

    Amanda,

You deserve to be added, and great to see how well your site is doing in search engine rankings. What’s your secret?

    Craig, Chris, Frank,

    My pleasure guys.

    David,

Feel free to create your own. I’ll make a point to update it next time I revise the list. Great work again on your re-design.

  22. Thanks.

My secret to seo success? Blood, sweat & tears and a bit of random stuff that I don’t understand, lol.

I find seo quite frustrating and yet exciting at the same time. I have this guy I know really well and I cannot for the life of me get ahead of him for the word ‘logo design’ in Google no matter what I do. I’ve been quite obsessed and check my position about 20 times a day.

When I look at his site and check his inbound links etc, I can’t even understand how he’s getting his position in the first place let alone me not being able get past him. It’s all starting to feel very mystical to me!

He has another site he’s got to the top of Google in the space of about of a month recently, how’s he doing it!???

It’s like he shakes some bones over Google, goes ‘ooomma ahhmaa oo oooo’ and hits the front page.

Or maybe he’s in cahoots with Google, that’s it, it’s a big conspiracy to stop me getting onto the front page for ‘logo design’, ha ha ….paaaarrannoid…

  23. Thanks for this list, Im always interested to learn of new venues for perusal.

Huge amount to digest, but my appetite is large.

    Cheers, David.

  24. Amanda,

That guy you know well, does he own the jpink website? I’ve always seen that one appear high on the UK search results. I’ll go down the conspiracy route too. It’s much easier. :)

    Mark,

    Enjoy the meal.

  25. Jpink are always up there yes, but the guy is from the firm ‘Eagle Imagery’ and he is even beating them now, by one slot!

I’m stuck at position 11, but it’s the closest I’ve got to the homepage so far :-)) It will be interesting to see if getting onto the first page makes much of a difference to traffic.

  26. You’re doing a fantastic job, Amanda.

When you reach page one, it’d be great to read a little report on what difference it makes (perhaps a blog post?).

  27. If I ever get there, I might go insane with trying between now and then.

But yes, I’ll probably not only blog about it …..There will be fanfares, a street party, and I’ll start a national holiday or something called “Amanda Got Onto Page One Of Google Day” ;)

  28. I’m already looking forward to my street party invite!
  29. Hey, I check your blog regularly, and enjoy your work. I actually keep up with a good part of the blogs you mentioned (now and before), which is always a good feeling. I actually just uploaded my own blog with high hopes, but I aim to talk about different topics (less marketing, more design-centered) while showing my latest work.

It’s almost empty at the moment, but feel free to let me know what you think.

  30. I know that I am a little late to the game, but I just wanted to thank you. It is a total honor to be added to the list!

Zinni’s last blog post…Why Struggling with a Design is a Good Thing

  31. Thanks a lot, Jason. Glad you like to check back regularly.

    Zinni,

The pleasure was mine. Keep up the fantastic blog!

  32. I have just been going through the archives and there are lots of cool posts that I have missed being as I only found the world of david airey a few months back. I really like the spoon graphics blog, it looks really original and creative. Thanks for all the graphics blogs I have bookmarked this page so that I can check them out later.
