The hook of high-impact roadside campaigns

Sukle

Roadside ad campaigns have more in common with blogs than you think.

Both have fast moving traffic and a hideously small opportunity to make a visual statement that lasts. The best ones leave the audience pondering about what they’ve just seen and (hopefully) create discussion around the office water cooler later that day.

Here’s an exceptional example from Sukle Advertising + Design. Their website is worth a moment or two as well.

Billboard advertising

Bench advertising

The impact of these two presentations is immediate. Images are thought provoking. They’re easily interpreted and the intended message is conveyed with a hook. Brilliant.

  2. That is quite interesting. I have never really seen anything like that before. Nice post!

  3. Excellent execution of ‘surprise’ tactic advertising. Just a pity their website isn’t as inspiring. Sitting watching “19…18…17 items remaining…” in the bottom left on my browser rubs me up the wrong way.

Oh, and I had a laugh at your “one and only personal submission” quote.

I like the concept of their website skin but you’re right. It quickly loses a lot because there’s no progression past the initial buttons.

  5. Those “Use Only What You Need” ads are very nice, and they gave me a chuckle. Using the element of surprise and a unique approach is a great way to catch attention, and separate yourself from other ads. Examples to be followed for sure.

  6. Thanks for the post. The signs are fantastic and really catch your attention.

  7. I like the concept, but in actuality, the bench would just make me angry as it’s not at all practical. The billboard is cool though

  8. Thanks for the linkback Bigger Pockets.

….and thanks to all for your comments & input.
