The Face Behind The Blog update #2

The Face Behind The Blog

When I first started The Face Behind The Blog Collection, I wasn’t sure if anyone would join in.

Back in May I posted a quick Face Behind The Blog update, giving a little extra interest in the meme. Since then, however, I thought that the idea had slowed and the momentum was gone. That was until Thomas of Technical Blogger sent me a message asking if I was going to update the original list.

I had no idea it was still continuing, so it was a nice surprise to see so many new people coming out from behind their blogs!

Here are just a few of the people who have kept the photography project running since my last update (there are too many others to go in search of them all).

The Face Behind The Blog showcase

The thought crossed my mind about creating some kind of photo montage of bloggers who have joined in, but that got me thinking back to the 2000 Bloggers project, and I know a lot of people thought it was gaming Technorati through link-farming.

That’s the last thing I want you to think.

Maybe I should just leave it be, without anyone thinking there’s some kind of suspicious undertone to the project. Maybe, if you’re on the original list, you’ve been fed up with the trackbacks you receive from new entries? Or, on the other hand, perhaps you have an idea that could help the idea in it’s quest for a more personable blog world?

I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Do you want to join in?

If it’s something you think is worthy of participating in, head back to the original Face Behind The Blog post. Your readers might appreciate it.

  1. HI David,
thanks for adding me! how did u manage to find me if i did not link to you? You’re amazing! I will add you to my list.
    Have a Great Day! ;)

  2. The success is overwhelming. I still get link backs to my site, my old site though, but that forces me to visit them if I still want the link love ;)

Which reminds me, could I persuade you to change the name and link in the original list? Petersen Inc to The Beta News and the link to http://www.thebetanews.com/the-face-behind-the-blog/

    Thank you very much

  3. Great David!
Thanks for the linkback. You are really generous!
I like your new design. Very fresh footer and header. I bet you love clouds, huh?

  4. I’ve been amazed how much the meme has spread — and it has been great to go out and see how many people are jumping in. I’ve “met” tons of people from around the globe, and been introduced to all kinds of folks I never would have otherwise.

    It’s been a blast.

  5. Jean,

I found you through good friend, Thomas, who I mention at the start of this post. Thanks very much for adding me to your list.

    Dennis,

I’ll change the name in the original list now. No problem.

    Ken,

Linking to you again is my pleasure. It’s all about the giving. Also, glad you’re liking the new design. Pretty happy with my first custom layout, and yes, I do like clouds (particularly as they fit nicely with my surname). ;)

    Adam,

That’s superb that you’ve enjoyed the results of the meme! Glad to help out in any way I can.

  6. Wow, I had no idea so many people participated! This turned out to be quite a successful meme. It was a great idea for promoting a “friendlier” web. Seems like we (as bloggers) write up an about page and then it’s forgotten. You reminded us to put ourselves out there a bit more. Nicely done David. ;)

  7. David, I had so many folks send me emails and leave me notes after I participated on my site…lots of new connections were made, people found out things they and I had in common. It was tons of fun and lead to some new readers who’ve become regulars.

Thanks for starting the whole thing!

    Tammy

  8. Thank you very much!

  9. I got tagged by Tara months ago but haven’t found any photos that pass quality control yet… one day I’ll get round to participating.

  10. It’s been months since you started the meme. Lots of new blogs I found just from people participating. About the 2000 bloggers project, it’s a good idea. Maybe you should change it to ” 2000 faces behind the blog”.

  11. Hi David, I really enjoyed picking out photos and writing this blog. The project brings out a different side of us as bloggers that’s refreshing! Thanks for starting it!!

  12. Charity,

Thanks for the props, and thanks again for being one of the first to join in.

    Tammy,

You’ve confirmed why I thought this was a good idea in the first place! That’s superb that you’ve made new connections and gained a few more regular readers. Excellent.

    Aaron,

Sounds like some complex you’ve got yourself there. ;) No worries about not participating. You visit my blog and that’s more than reason enough for me to say thanks.

    Rammel,

2000 faces eh? That could take some time! Still not entirely sure about the idea, but I appreciate your feedback on my question.

    Robyn,

    You’re very welcome!

  13. Hi David,

Thanks for the update, I intended to keep the list of participants updated as it grew so that the link love continued to grow – going to do that now.

    Happy Friday!

  14. The Face Behind The Blog…

Shelly at This Eclectic Life tagged me to participate in The Face Behind The Blog meme. Shelly has a great collection of old photographs from her childhood days – now I don’t have that many in my possession, but I’ll do my best.
    Here&#…

  15. David, thanks for the acknowledgment, I appreciate that.

I noticed that I kept getting trackbacks for the meme, so I periodically would visit your original post to get the update links for me to add. When I did not see the additional links I thought I would investigate a little bit, and let you know.

I have mentioned that I thought this is a really cool meme. We interact by name, and vague concept of who we are, by what we write, which gives bloggers a radio host mystique. You have an idea about the person, but you don’t really have a face to put with the personality.

Participating in this meme, I have met and learned about some interesting bloggers I might not have found otherwise.

  16. Leanne, Thomas,

Thanks again to you both for your contributions!

  17. This was a brilliant Idea David. I’m only just now finding out about it but very glad to see it!

  18. Thanks very much, Sara. I just visited your own blog and you write very well. Good of you to visit mine.

  19. Hello again David. As you know from my comment on the original post, I’m inn:-) I tried to send you a note through your contact page too, but I seams to disagree with your security code :-)

  20. David, it’s you who find this great meme! What a brilliant idea! I did this meme as well.. :-)
