This is great. I am losing appeal for the fedex logo as so many people have beat it to death with analysis.
( I wonder how well logo designers would do creating mobile app icons as opposed to a graphic designer of general talents? I hear logo design is it's own genre when it comes to design, and a general graphic designer would be a terrible choice when wanting logo work done.)

The color choice for the PD logo reminds me of a conversation I had with someone a while back... He claimed that a black and white logo is far superior in everyday business because so many people still fax on there letter heads and it looks great for that reason. I wonder if the same holds true today?

I wonder what the thinking was behind the period after the "P" it seems to work nicely.

I thought logo of the month were all your work for some reason.

As far as this one goes, I think the icon works. But the company should be a serif font to match that of the icon and to abbreviate department is tacky. Spell it out.

I think it communicates just fine. If you didn't know what Fedex was how would you know what it did? What's a fedex? This logo's name says it all, maybe in 10 years if it follows Fedex's lead it might be called Prodept. Fedex is only memorable now because of it's history as Federal Express. We all start somewhere.

i read the d before the p and honestly i dont see how it reflects what they do and who they are……

It doesnt have to. It has to be memorable. Nike doesnt say 'sports shoe', Apple doesnt say ipod or computer, Shell doesn't say oil, Tesco doesn't say supermarket.

The Fedex logo is great, when you know about the arrow you dont forget it, it's a BONUS.

Whether you read the p or d first doesnt matter. It's a simple memorable logo. I can draw it, describe it, it looks nice.

Good post.

I like it quite a bit. I am not much of a designer, but it is a nice, clean, simple look. Very professional.

i read the d before the p and honestly i dont see how it reflects what they do and who they are......the image is nice sure but what we aim for is not only aesthetics but communication.......personally i like the fedex logo better, not beautiful sure but that subtle little arrow describes things rather well once you see it
