Helvetica NOW poster design contest

Helvetica poster design

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Helvetica™ typeface, Linotype™ invited designers worldwide to take part in the Helvetica NOW poster design contest.

More than 1,000 posters were submitted to the contest, and they’re on the ballot for the first round of voting. With your help, the 200 posters with the most votes will advance to the second round. Then there’s a final round of voting to declare a winner. The winning entries will be announced in the January 2008 LinoLetter.

  1. Are you in the contest too, David? Do I get to see your poster? :)
But what’s with the love of Helvetica anyway? I don’t even use it. I am an Arial type. LOL! (It needs too much scrolling down to get Helvetica ;) )

  2. Are you in the contest?
If so, will you share a link? I’d like to vote for you!

    Nice work btw…

  3. Imagine on BBC1 was very interesting last night – I never really thought about Helvetica before then!

  4. Hi Mig,

I’d thought about entering, although logo projects have taken priority.

I don’t use Helvetica too often, and I like your reason for choosing Arial instead!

    Brian,

That’s very kind of you mate, although as mentioned, I’ve been too busy to enter. I actually started editing one of my longer blog posts, currently in draft format, and I was going to publish it instead of this short one. Then I found it was taking too long!

There are some very nice poster design ideas on the site.

  5. Hi Pinksy,

Been a while. I hope you’re keeping well.

I was out playing football last night, so only caught a little of the programme. Hopefully there’ll be a streaming version online before too long, as what I saw was very interesting.

  6. Great designs . . . and they instantly remind me of why I am NOT a graphic designer. I may dabble, but I don’t have those kind of chops!

  7. Helvitica eh? Well I personally love me some Times!! And winddang is pretty unusual too!! But I guess Helvitica is and will always remain the best in the biz you might say!!

  8. i entered, my poster is pictured above, it’s in the sixth row down on the very right.

  9. Indeed good for Design Inspiration.
    Thanks.

This may be a bit off-topic, but I think your logo (top-left) in this site is suffering form some jpeg artifacts. May be I can see it more because of my monitor settings.

  10. Hi Deb,

You don’t have those kind of chops? Haha.

    Oliver,

Best of luck in the competition!

    Niyaz,

Thanks for the feedback on my logo design clarity. I’ll see if I can improve it.

  11. Hey David.. I blog bout this contest too.
Pity you’re not in, thought I might want to see how’s your poster design will be, so I can vote one for you..

I guess to enter this one they have an invitation right?..

  12. eshark,

I’m pretty sure entry was open to all, as I thought about entering myself. Some tough competition, but I’d have given it a shot if I had more time on my hands.
