@David no problem its a useful and easy fix

@Simon you might also want to consider setting up some advanced segments that filter out to just capture YouTube or eZine articles. To find out a little bit more check out this post and it has some related posts.

@Simon

By clicking the following items, you can access the referral URL

View traffic sources > Referring Sites > Click URL

It is possible and to get much of the data that you need, there are filters for some more advanced features to capture data typically hidden by display and affiliate networks.

Unfortunately, Simon, I don't know a way around that.

With WordPress powering my blogs, I find the WPstats plugin useful when used in conjunction with Google Analytics.

David,
I want badly to use Google Analytics, but it has one big flaw for me right now - I can't see what pages are sending traffic from my biggest traffic sources! (Eg - Youtube and Ezinearticles, when I click the domains to further research, the links that are sending traffic are "/" and "youtube.com/watch") No mention of WHICH video or article is sending the traffic. I need that information... Any idea? I tried applying a filter I found online but it didn't work for me.

I don't want to switch back to Statcounter or use Yahoo's tool, I want to use GA and eventually Google Optimizer. Please help me ...

Great points, and I agree that stumbleupon is another great source of social traffic, but it seems to have reduced its impact for driving visitors to websites, but continues to perform well for blog/articles.

Hi Shaina,

Sorry to learn of your unwanted visitor. I've no idea how it happened, but where online content is concerned, you should always expect unwanted visitors. I learnt the hard way when my domain name was stolen.

I use Google analytics. and I have more than one blog. I just created one where I did not want people from the first to find me.
When I looked at analytics this morning there was a referral site, linking to the main person I did not want to find me.

Is there anyway she COULD have found me with my profile being disabled?

or does her address show up If I jumped from her page to mine using my bookmarks?

Hi Dale,

Sorry it's taken a while to respond. I'm really no expert on Newsgator. In fact I'm hardly familiar with it at all, so I can't give the answer you're looking for. I think that anyone you subscribe to will be very glad of your attention, but I can appreciate you wanting to give more (hits).

Swiss Mouse,

Interesting to know. Thanks for commenting.

Dean,

I agree entirely how the info is great for shaping future posts, and you also know that it's worthwhile advertising, or contributing, in forum threads, due to the higher quality of traffic gained. Thanks for the stats.

Thanks for the tip. I haven't tried analyzing traffic by source much before. StumbleUpon is my top referrer too with 1.80 pages/visit and 1:46 average time on site. Referrals from problogger were 1:58 pages/visit and 3:41 average time on site, indicating higher quality traffic.

I've found some of the best referrals in terms of time spent on site are from forums, anything from 8 to 13 minutes on site.

This information will be very useful in helping to shape future posts.
