davidairey.com featured in HOW Magazine

www.davidairey.com has been featured in the October 2008 issue of HOW Magazine — the leading creativity, business and technology magazine for graphic designers. The great news comes hot on the heels of my appearance in Digital Arts. Here are a few photos along with some resources for your online promotion.

The article is called ‘rock your website’, by Lisa Hazen.
Simply having a website is no longer enough. It must be a dynamic destination that acts as a bold advocate on behalf of your design business. Here’s how to take your existing site and make it into the ultimate self-promotion tool.

The screenshot used was lifted before my recent website design change. I’m still much happier with the new look, which is great.

You can download a PDF of Lisa’s article via her website, and for more tips about promoting yourself online, read HOW’s article Best Online Self-Promotion Practices for Designers.
Thanks very much, Lisa!

Wow, congrats David! Very cool.
I’m gona read the pdf tomorrow when I get a chance. Congrats!
That’s great!
When the offline media praises the online, the sky must surely fall soon! How does being featured in the offline media impact on your business?
That’s awesome, David. Congrats!
Congratulations, David! You put in a lot of effort into making this site the dynamic hub that it is, and it’s great that HOW is taking notice of it. Keep up the good work! :)
Hey David,
Congratulations. Another reason to get a copy of this magazine. Do you know how could I get one here in the UK without subscribing to the mag? Do they sell it here?
Thanks,
Szabi
Congratulations!
Never saw the old-design live, but this one feels a lot ‘fresher’
Excellent! Another step towards world domination… Your new design does indeed look very cool.
Top stuff David, that’s some serious recognition… now watch the jump in your site stats!
I thougth it said Pork your website….
Great stuff David – keep up the good work
MOin, Margaret,
Very kind of you, thanks.
Brian,
Cheers buddy. I think you’ll appreciate Lisa’s article.
Eivind,
What impact does it have on business? I doubt many people outside the design industry read HOW, so it’s less about finding new clients, and more about confirmation that I’m on the right track.
Gio,
It’s readers like you who help keep this site interactive, for that I’m very grateful.
Szabi,
I’m not sure if you’ll find HOW in UK stores, but at least the article in question is available on PDF. Thanks for the congratulations.
Mel,
As you’re new here, I hope you find some of my articles of use. The reader comments are fantastic, so be sure to read them too. I’m glad you think the current site design is fresh. That’s certainly a term I want associated with it.
Mark,
Thank you kind sir. I hope everything’s going well with you.
Nathan,
Any mention is always warmly received, particularly from an established magazine such as HOW. Thanks for commenting.
cole,
Haha, I can definitely see the ‘pork’ in there. Would’ve put a different twist on it.
Congratulations! Have bookmarked the PDF for reading later
Congrats for the feature!
Congratulations David! Will have to download the pdf and have a look.
Well done!
Steve
Congratulations David,
you seem to be on a real role at the moment, maybe one day you’ll make the front page of creative Review?!
Wow. David, how exciting! You must be bursting at the seams. I know I would be. Congratulations.
Congratulations David. :)
I can not wait more to get a copy soon.
Congratulations once again!! Well deserved!
Too bad they caught their screenshot before the redesign :P
Congratulations on being featured on HOW, David.
PS: I personally like the previous blue-themed design…maybe its just me, but the sky background and all made it a lovely little theme.
Congratugratugratulations!
Congrate! You deserved it.
Well done on the mag David, I’d love to find out how you managed to build your site to such a huge following of visitors, maybe blog entry on that soon, or Q&A, unless it’s on the PDF, which I haven’t read yet.
In fact, I can’t remember how I found this site myself!
Congratulations, David. Wonderful news, and well deserved. Off to read that PDF. Thanks for the link.
Richard, Fubiz, Steve,
Thanks a lot guys.
Andrew,
Creative Review is certainly one to aim for. Ben, of Noisy Decent Graphics, made it in recently, but my experience / knowledge is quite some distance behind his.
Doug, Chaitanya, Jayson,
It’s very pleasing, for sure. You all help make my site what it is, so it’s a little victory for us all. :)
Sumesh,
The blue theme was one I enjoyed too. If / when I change from this actual layout, I’ll be sure to release the clouds as a free downloadable WordPress theme.
tif, jeriel, johno,
Thanks for taking the time to congratulate me.
Valentino,
There are a lot of factors behind my site progress. Have you read about my blogging mistakes? I’ve found that some pointers on what not to do can help a great deal.
That is awesome, congratulations!
even I’m so excited to actually know someone personally (though virtually) who’s been featured in HOW magazine :) Congratulations, David! Very well deserved indeed!
Congrats, great exposure :)
Congrats David !!!
You deserve the mention.
Nice one David, recognition from within the industry gives you that warm feeling doesn’t it?
Congratulations on the publication!! How wonderful! (pun intended).
Hey man!
Congrats and well done. BTW I like to new very simple look as well. Keep in touch.
Now, this is awesome, David! Congrats!! :-)
It is very enjoyable when seeing your blog. It is not only about the useful information but also the comfortable good looking blog.
I rather to take my time to read through your blog and it always wake me up with a lot of things.
Thank you~ ^.^.
Congratulations~!!!!!!!
Fantastic, David! Some much deserved recognition for you :) Did you notice a surge in traffic and/or clients after your last mention in DA?
That’s great publicity for you and your site, and well deserved. Congrats!
Thanks very much everyone! Things have been a little quiet around here this past week, whilst Catherine and I move into our new home here in Northern Ireland. It’s all go!
Lauren,
I didn’t see much of a change at all following the Digital Arts mention, but it was still greatly appreciated. :)
You know I’d just gone to my blog reader and thought “Why on earth is David not blogging” (plus several other bloggers have gone quiet).
I thought it might be work load because it’s gone really busy for me lately, hence I did barely any blogs in August. But of course, yes, you are moving – I forgot.
I hope it goes well!
We’ve not been moving but we’ve been renovating in August (so one of my ‘thin on the ground’ August blogs centred around this subject!! :-)
…..plasterers doing rooms, painting, sanding and varnishing floors. Putting up a million Ikea flatpacks for the kids (their room is stunning)… all manner of stuff going on. It’s still going on, but I’ve managed to write 4 blogs already this month, I’m determined to ‘do better’ this month.
David -
If you don’t mind me asking – how did this writer find you? I’ve done many searches on logo design and saw your name near the top (#3 i think) of Google searches, but in a field of literally thousands of designers your work appears in more printed media articles than anyone I’ve seen!
Congrats, its a great article. Only wish they had gotten the screenshot after Orange was debuted!
Davis CONGRATS!!! Way to go !!!! Wishing you more success in your near future, Logo Design Guru!
Congrats David for getting into the HOW magazine! You deserve all of this! :)
-Mike
Congratulations David. I love HOW magazine.
Amanda,
Thanks a lot. The move is a little stressful, as was expected, but things are moving in the right direction, and it shouldn’t be long before my new office is set-up.
Jordan,
I believe Lisa found me on Google too. Yep, would’ve been nice to have the orange iteration in there, but still, more than happy.
Lakshmi, Mike, Jennifer,
Thanks for the congrats! I hope you’re all well.
Wow that’s pretty cool to be featured in the magazine. I think it is most deserved though you have a huge huge website and its great that you personally get involved with all the posts you put on. The posts are also really interesting too. Well done David, keep up the good work.
Congrats on the great publicity. I like the new look as well. Hopefully (and it should) the article will get you a greater number of people to your site.
David, congrats! That is so excellent. And well deserved :-)
Thanks everyone. :) Much appreciated.
Cat,
I hope things are looking up for you, and that you’re starting to feel better.
I was just looking through the new How and came across the article with you site in it. Congrats it a great magazine and the one that I read every month.
Erik
