Kent at Church Relevance gives us his take on the top 20 church logo designs. Without background info, it can be very subjective whether you think a logo design is effective or not, but Kent also gives a little insight into what he believes makes a good logo design. I found myself nodding in agreement.
A good logo design is…
Distinctive. Memorable. And timeless. It is scalable, looking good while as large as a billboard or as small as a dime. It looks good in color as well as black and white. And it is simple enough that it can be applied to a media spectrum as broad as paper to plastic and t-shirts to websites.

Randa has compiled various resources for free vector artwork. Always handy from a designers point of view.
Finding sources of good vector art for use in design projects can be rather difficult. I can do illustration, but find it to be very time consuming, and while I don’t mind paying for good illustrations, I really appreciate all the sites out there that are offering freebies.

Jen at Pop Stalin teaches us the code to create different sidebar content on various pages of your WordPress blog.
If you use Wordpress as a CMS (which I encourage anyone to do) these are the steps for having multiple sidebar content in one sidebar page (sidebar.php).

Daniel creates another great top 25 list, this time showing the top 25 SEO blogs.
The Top 25 SEO Blogs list ranks the blogs according to their Google Pagerank, Alexa rank, number of Bloglines subscribers and Technorati authority.

Ben at Binary Moon has developed a plugin to customise your WordPress login page. Nice work, Ben.
Firstly how do you create the images? Secondly what happens when you upgrade? … I give to you, my first Wordpress plugin, the Binary Moon Custom Login plugin.
Thanks everyone for your work on these resources as it’s my pleasure to link back to your websites. Keep up the great work!
Do you have a creative resource worth a mention?
I’m always on the look-out for creative articles that I think are useful for my readers. Hopefully I’m doing a half-decent job of it so far, and that my creative resource lists show something you haven’t already seen. Let me know if there are any particular resources you’d like to see featured and I’ll do what I can to help out.

Thanks for the mention David, and for the nice roundup of resources. I was particularly interested in the church logo site, as I’ve done a fair amount of design for churches myself in the past. I’m not sure I agree with all his choices, but it’s an interesting selection.
Thanks for the link, David!
Hey David - nice to see my little plugin mentioned - thanks :) Thanks for your original post too, it showed me how much interest there was in the idea (more than I had imagined) and encouraged me to make the thing quicker.
I don’t agree with all Kent’s choices either, but it’s the first time I’ve seen a collection of church logos all in one place, and I like Kent’s description of a good logo.
Ben,
You’re very welcome too. I hope your plugin gets you some deserved attention, and may it be the first of many more to follow.
David, I have a creative resource for web icons on my site. It’s my newest article. I’ll leave it up to you though on whether it’s worth a mention or not. ;)
Nice post David. I have never visited dailyblogtips.com before so to see that list of the top 25 was interesting. I saw that you left a comment on Josh Buckley’s blog and I think that it was intended for me regarding the vblog post that Nate and I did. Thank you for the feed back and keep it comin! Sweet, thanks! Always on the lookout for SEO promotional tips for our patio and driveway paving business website (and tips to share with friends who have small businesses in the area).
Here are two of my favorites…
Blue Vertigo (links to stock photos, fonts, patterns, etc. And very easy to navigate too.)
Typetester (great tool for web designers trying to figure out if their font selection looks good on the net. It also lets you select fonts from your own computer.)
Josh,
Sorry for the mix-up! I’ve taken a look at your blog and left a comment.
Stephen,
Glad to give some info of use. It’s a fairly comprehensive SEO list that Daniel put together. Quite a few new ones for me.
PG,
Blue Vertigo is a great resource, agreed. I haven’t seen Typetester before so off to check it out. Cheers mate.
