7 creative music videos
Ever since receiving my first LP as a youngster (Michael Jackson’s Thriller) I’ve had a strong passion for music.
Following on from Dawud’s recent tag, and to tie the meme more in line with the focus of my site, here I piece together a few excellently creative music videos. Combine the video with the music and some are simply stunning.
Massive Attack and Teardop
Fujiya and Miyagi and Ankle Injuries
OK Go and Here It Goes Again
Daft Punk and Around the World
A Ha and Take on Me
The White Stripes and Fell in Love with a Girl
Alex Gopher and The Child
I like this one so much that I’ve featured The Child before.

Boy, you are a youngster! ;) I was in my mid 20’s and dancing at discos when Thriller came out. Music vids kind of lost their allure (for me) back in the 1990’s, after our son left home for the Marines.
Two favorites of mine, both Bjork:
First
Second
Wow, what a coincidence, my first LP was Thriller too! Loved it back in the day.
I also used to love that Daft Punk song but had completely forgotten about it. Thanks for posting the video, I had never seen it before! Those are some very cool videos.
Thanks for listing those, Douglas. I’ll check them out.
Sera,
That is a coincidence! Glad you like the videos above.
Just love that massive attack video. Also love A-ha, they were my favourite band when I was a youngster. Have you seen the episode of Family Guy where Chris becomes part of that A-ha video? Classic.
I could spend ages thinking about this.
Sledgehammer - Peter Gabriel
Black and White - Michael Jackson
Hey Ya - Outkast
All I want is you - U2 (just like the story in the video)
Anything by the Gorrillaz
I remember watching videos as a teen when MTV debuted. My all time favorite is Rio by Duran Duran. The A-ha video you have here is another favorite of mine.
I like the…
OK Go and Here It Goes Again
Wow! I loved that Ankle Injuries one, catchy tune and amazing video! And it must take some kind of talent (and energy!) to do that treadmill one. That was hilarious.
I am deprived. I never had MTV and I was not really interested in music videos by the time we had broadband. Hehehehe, however, if you’ve never seen (or heard) Weird Al’s White and Nerdy, go watch it! If you ever wanted to know how nerdy I am, most of the things in this song are true about me *blush* and I must say, I’d choose Picard.
Alright, that Massive Attack video is better than sliced bread. Yes, it’s that good.
I loved your expression in this post. And great use of video. I didn’t even think of that. Thanks, David, for participating.
Jennifer,
I had looked through a few Gorillaz videos when posting this. They’ve released some great tracks, but when combined with the music I prefer the choices above.
Char,
I don’t think I’ve seen the video for Rio so will have a search for it.
Andy,
That OK Go video has won a fair few awards for it’s innovation. I can watch it again and again and would love to know many takes it needed.
Lauren,
Haha, that’s funny you compare yourself to that video. It’ll take on a whole new meaning for me now. ;)
Morriconei, Dawud,
Thanks for stopping by and leaving your thoughts. Glad you liked the post.
If it wasn’t for the (probable) poor condition of some of our LP’s, we would have a goldmine. We have quite a few. In fact, we have a picture of our son’s bedroom that was taken shortly before he was born and up on the wall above his bed was a poster from Black Sabbath (if memory serves)with crosses on it. It never occurred to us that it might be inappropriate for a baby’s room! LOL Couple of sick puppies, weren’t we?
You never know how much your LPs could get you, even in their blemished state.
Black Sabbath eh? In my teenage years I listened to a lot of heavy metal, and whilst I was familiar with that group I didn’t catch much of their music.
I guess you got rid of the poster? Would make an interesting memento.
Thought this was really cool! Check it out.
