Pharma ads from decades past

There’s an intersting collection of pharamceutical print adverts from the 50s, 60s and 70s over at ex-novo’s Espacios publicitarios album.
I’m just showing one example here. The typography could be improved upon but I think you’ll agree that it’s a nice idea.

Smoking ruins lives

The text in the upper right of the poster reads:

Homer Simpson + John Wayne = George Bush

This print ad for Mexican newspaper – Milenio Diario – caught my attention as a great piece of work.

The strapline reads, “Such a complex world needs a good explanation”.
It was produced by Olabuenaga Chemistri, Mexico.
