Books and packaging

Pelican book covers

Two additions to my sidebar’s “blog topics.”

A little new year rearranging and editing of old posts.

There’s not yet much in the packaging category (to be rectified), but what design blog is complete without a good dose of books and packaging?

Off-topic, in case you missed it, there’s decent chat over on davidthedesigner, about offering free work.

  1. First of all, Happy New Year to you, David! I hope the snow wasn’t (isn’t?) too bad.

I must admit that I do judge a book by its cover, as I expect a lot of designers do. Gollancz (Orion Books) did, and do, some very nice minimalist covers that breathe new life into old books – I really liked their covers for Flowers for Algernon and The Dispossessed (I would never had read the book had it not been for the striking red anarchy symbol on the black cover).

    All the best for 2011.

  2. I agree, some fantastic work out there look forward to seeing your take on it all.

Hope this year is a good one for you.

  3. And to you, Rob, Richard. All the very best for 2011.

No snow here anymore. Feels like there should be, though. Cold enough. Good of you guys to drop in.

  4. Cool, I’m glad you’re doing packaging now, I absolutely love retail packaging design.

An absolutely outstanding blog for that is – http://www.thedieline.com/blog/

  5. A stellar resource, Amanda.
