I’ve not actually had much need for such a filter, as the commenters who have previously had comments moderated are very good in that respect. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, though.

I love the WebPurify profanity filter plugin http://www.webpurify.com/profanity-filter/wp-plugin.php

It saves you from having to scour each comment for profanity.

Hi,

I just write a new plugin WP Widget Cache, which can cache the output of your blog widgets. You can treat it as a plus to WP Cache, especially when Google is crawling your site, I think it will significantly reduce your server usage.

Will you please have a try, and add it to this list. Thanks very much.

I found a great plugin I use on my site: TreeMagic Cypress by AmbientWebs. http://ambientwebs.com/portfolio/treemagic-products/treemagic-cypress/ Basically it allows you to double-click any word on your site and get a drop-down list. From the list, you can select the definition for the word, search it on Google, or any other query that you can possibly think of.

These plugins are awesome, for an already awesome blog software. I want to point out that it’s just as important to uninstall unneeded plugins, as it is to install the right plugins. Some plugins may conflict with each other and cause problems or performance issues.

Also, if your site is getting Dugg or Slashdotted, you may want to disable some of the more dynamic content plugins.

I also nominate Defensio and Google Analyticator as really good plugins. Defensio yields me better spam blocking than Akismet and Google Analyticator provides me precise control on my blog stats.
