Beer 2.0.1 evening at WhiteSpace

David Airey graphic designer

Last night I had the pleasure of meeting some local designers for the first time. Whitespace, Edinburgh, was the location for Beer 2.0.1, an evening of beer, food and good chat. Unfortunately I had to leave just before the food was rolled out (courtesy of Jamie at Terinea), as footballing commitments took precedence.

You can read more about the evening at Digital Agency, Ewan McIntosh’s edu.blogs.com and Jamie at Terinea Tech Tips. Thanks to Belhaven for the kindly donated beer.

There wasn’t much chat of logo design work, which suited me. Sometimes it’s more important to simply get to know people, and work-chat doesn’t aid relaxation.

  1. It was a shame I didn’t catch you before you left, I got caught up with the food bit. Maybe next week or some other time? I hope you found the event useful.
    Thanks
    Jamie

  2. It looks like everyone had a great time!

  3. Jamie,

It’s a great idea to have these events so thanks for keeping me informed. If I can make it to your host event next week I’ll be sure to let you know.

    Char,

Everyone I met was very friendly. Glad I made it, if only for the first half.

  4. Seeing that picture just makes me thank god it Friday!!! :)

Nice Idea though, getting to meet fellow creatives in your area. I wonder how you go about setting that up?

  5. Tolumi,

It is a good idea. I’d thought about organising one myself before I found out about this.

One thing I was going to try was searching through BritBlog (a blog directory for Britain) and contacting local online authors that way. Publicising it through your own blog is of course another way to gauge interest.

  6. I like that other picture of you, where you’re smiling! It’s a cute one :) You could use that on your Hire Me page… minus the beer, maybe, lol. You have brilliant blue eyes and a very sweet smile, if you don’t mind my saying! (and you can tell your gf, it’s just a comment, I’m quite happily married, tyvm) Ooooooh, I get the blue in your website now! Right? Or maybe it’s to do with the “Airey” part. You just think of everything don’t you! Hehe

When did you add the site stats at the bottom? That’s nifty! I’m gonna go make a note on my list of things for when I start a blog :D

And yes, I do feel in a bit of a silly mood :p

I just searched for businesses that blogged in the Edinburgh area. Met Mike from Digital Agency and we started meeting for coffee every Friday morning and the rest is history.

  8. I know we are suppose to be all business-like and such, but I have to comment on the picture. You are a very nice looking young man. And, as you know, I am old enough to be your mother. ;) Looks like you all had a good time at beer 2.0. :) BTW, we just tried McEwan’s recently, and I liked it just fine, but my husband still prefers Wee Heavy. Have a great weekend David!

  9. Lauren,

Of course I don’t mind you saying! I’m partial to compliments actually. Still keeping an eye out for a change of contact page photo.

I added the site stats to the footer yesterday. Very observant of you. It’s a little piece of PHP code I quite like. Remind me about it when you get your own blog up and running.

    Jamie,

Did you simply search on Google for Edinburgh blogs? Well done by the way.

    Carol,

Another compliment! Nice way to end the working week. Thanks! Personally I’m a Guinness fan, having acquired a taste for it recently, but my favourite drink has to be a white Russian.

I hope you all have a great weekend.
