4,000th commenter deserves a mention

Ilker, of The Thinking Blog, recently left the 4,000th comment here on my site. I like to feature each person who leaves a milestone comment, to thank them for visiting, and for participating in the discussion. I also think it’s a good idea to celebrate your blog milestones, and this is a way of giving a little back to you at the same time.
Ilker, who’s well known for the very popular Thinking Blogger Awards, is someone who has kept a mysterious identity since I’ve been writing online, often changing avatars and using other people’s photos, so I’ve taken this opportunity to ask a few personal questions. Before we get to those, however, Ilker had this to say:
First of all, I would like to congratulate you on passing the 4,000th comment mark on your blog and thank you for taking this opportunity to make a mini-interview with me. I tried my best to answer all the questions fully and if there are other questions from your readers, I will do my best to reply to them in the comments of this post.
Ilker, where do you live?
I currently live in the capital of Turkey, Ankara, but I’ve been living in various other countries before. Namely, the UK (Southampton), Brazil (Brasilia) and Portugal (Lisbon).
Where were you born?
I was born in Ankara on 19th of January, 1985, making me 22 years old.
Why did you start The Thinking Blog?
It all started as a hobby with one motto in mind: “Knowledge grows when shared.” I started writing about many of the topics that make me think, in a world where most are too busy to stop and take some time-out to reflect.
What do you want to achieve with your blog?
My vision is to make The Thinking Blog a place where other thinkers come to share their knowledge and engage in “the thinking process” with the rest of us – to create a community in the purest sense.
With your numerous identities, and please don’t take this the wrong way, I’m not sure if you’re a man or woman. Which is it?
Sorry about the confusion and mystery surrounding this question. My name is male but I’m actually a girl. We have such funny, but rare stories here in Turkey, when a baby’s name is chosen before they are born and not changed afterwards. I’m one of those cases!
What one tip would you give to people starting a blog?
One tip? That is a tough one. I guess it’s this: read my “Guide to Blog Promotion” ebook!
Thanks Ilker
Many thanks for taking time-out to answer a few short questions, and again for leaving the 4,000th comment here on my blog. If any of you have more questions for Ilker, she’ll kindly answer them in the comments.

Well done on your 4,000th comments and passing 1,500 RSS subscriptions, 2,000 by October?
Jamie
Wow, 4000, congrats. I’m coming up to 1000 myself ;)
Here’s to 5000!
Hey, David, congrats with the 4000th comment milestone. You’re definitely doing a great job with your blog, and I’m very impressed by your ability to get Ilker confess to some of the mysteries surrounding this blogger. I knew about Ankara, didn’t know the age and was also confused about the man vs. woman identity.
Ilker, for such a young girl you’re doing an amazing job with your blog. I’m even more impressed now – so much maturity in such a young age.
Yay! Ilker Finally Confessed! :D
I’m in a maze by some rumor spreading in the blogosphere. Some even said She is He and He is hermaphrodite (double sex). ~_~
Oh, What the heck, and I’m finally know who is ‘He’ now.
Well, Congratulation David! 5000 Comments is sure a tough task. I’ve just reach my 1000’s and will sure celebrating it when it reach 2000! :)
But happen to be enlightened by Lorelle, I now will not make an incentive to pull comment anymore. A natural pulled comment is more important because it’s genuine and sound from our reader’s heart.
Like your’s is genuine one! :D
Hi Jamie,
Thanks for the congrats. Here’s hoping that October brings me to 2,000! Fingers crossed the giveaway will do the trick.
Conner,
You write some great posts so it’s no surprise you’re doing well.
Vivien,
Ilker is doing a great job, and has it all ahead of her too!
Ken,
Hermaphrodite?? I’d no idea there were such rumours!
Lorelle speaks wisely when she talks of how natural comments are much more important than ‘fake’ ones, where someone might just comment for the sake of a link back to their site.
Do you do this for every 1,000th commenter? If so I will make sure to be the 5,000th, lol :) Interesting way to reward your commenters
Hi Crystal,
I do feature every 1,000th commenter. I used to show the number of comments that were on my site, but did away with it recently. Perhaps I’ll bring it back.
Good luck being number 5k!
Congrats on the 4000 comment milestone. It looks like you are going to hit 2000 subscribers soon also which isn’t surprising. Your blog posts are wonderful and the involvement of your comments makes it even better.
Thanks a lot, smojo.
Very kind of you.
