2,000 comments and counting, thank you!

Remove no follow

It almost passed without me noticing, such is the interest I have in what you’re saying as opposed to how many times you’re saying it. Two days ago Lisa of Just A Girl In The World posted the 2,000th comment on my website!

Had it not been for the sense of community you build I’d probably have given up publishing these articles a long time ago. So this is a little thank you to everyone who has kindly given their time to express an opinion here.

Thank you

As a special thank you to Lisa, for breaching the 2,000 mark, here’s a little insight into her own online presence.

Just a girl in the world

Firstly, Lisa’s website is unlike any other WordPress blog I’ve seen, so it’s a pleasure to present her design efforts here. Even more-so because Lisa is completely self-taught!

She kindly participated in my Face Behind The Blog meme and you can view her great insight here. Lisa has also removed NoFollow from her blog comments, something I’ve previously written about. Andy Beard recently published an article discussing the highs and lows of DoFollow, and talks about how some people are abusing the idea for personal gain. Off-topic, congratulations to Andy for breaching the 1000 daily readers mark! It’s no surprise.

Lisa is in the process of writing the official “WordPress for Dummies” book from Wiley Publishing, and says this on her website:

I’m eyebrow deep in writing all of the chapters and with a bit of luck and a LOT of coffee, should be done by April 2007 and we’re looking at a publish date of July 2007. I will update this site with information on where and how you can purchase the book when it is available.

Best of luck with that, Lisa. I’m sure it’ll make an excellent WordPress guide!

  1. Wow David - thanks so much for the great write up - you rock! I guess I found you and your website just in time to be number 2000.

Someday, when I make that swim cross the Atlantic and we can share a pint :)

  2. Congratulations David. You’ve managed to maintain the quality - that’s why we keep coming back.

“Eyebrow deep” - must remember that one ;)

  3. Well… thanks to you for keeping on posting good articles, you truly deserve the success of your blog.

  4. That’s great, David! Congrats! :)

  5. That’s great, David! Congrats! :)

  6. Nice one on the 2000 comments David, that’s a lot of links you’ve had to hand out ;-)

That WP book sounds interesting, I shall definitely keep a look out for that.

  7. Lisa,

You’re very welcome. Swim over any time and I’ll reward you with a nice pint of Guinness.

    Johno,

I’m enjoying your own articles a lot so thanks for the kind words.

    Mirko, Respiro, Chris

Again, it’s the folk like you who make the time I spend worthwhile, so thank you.

    Chris,

I know there are a lot of outgoing links on my site, and that when balanced with inbound I might be harming my Google juice, but I’m just glad to make an ever-so-slight difference to the people I link to. That’s what’s most important for me.

Also, I reckon Lisa’s book will be a real winner. She definitely knows WordPress a truck load more than I do! Keeping an eye out myself.

  8. Great to hear your hitting this milestone. I’ve noticed more conversation on your posts lately. So congrats. I’m just a couple of dozen away from joining you at 2000 comments. God speed to you, my friend.

  9. Just removed my nofollow link.
Well done on the 2000 comments and counting
    Jamie

  10. Congratulations. Sometimes I don’t subscribe for comment notifications because I get an email every two minutes ;)

How do you always get such good ideas to write about?

  11. Dawud,

You’re a true king of online conversations in my opinion. There’s been a real upturn in comments on your website which is testament to you and what you’re about.

    Jamie,

That’s great you’ve joined the I Follow movement. The majority of my favourite websites have the NoFollow attribute removed and I hope it helps your community.

  12. Tara,

Sorry, your comment was caught by Akismet for some reason, but I’ve freed it from the confines now.

I can empathise about receiving a lot of emails when you subscribe to comments. It’s fine if you’re using Gmail, whereby every comment on a particular post gets filed in the same place, but when using Outlook / Outlook Express it can be pretty time consuming, reading and deleting each individual comment.

I’m glad you think I write around good ideas! My inspiration comes in part from all the other people who publish articles online. For example, this post would never have been published were it not for you and everyone else who kindly contributes.

  13. Congratulations, David. I’m still plugging away at reaching 500!

  14. Congratulations! :)

Hey, I look forward to Lisa’s book!

  15. Congrats on meeting another milestone! It is definitely the conversation that keeps the blogging world moving.

Thanks for taking the initiative to get so many of us to come out from behind our screens and show our faces. I love seeing pictures of all my friends.

I am looking forward to Lisa’s book, too.

  16. Hey David. This John Chow think is pretty interesting, huh? I already have a good idea what you think. I just published a post on it, though.

  17. [...] David [...]

  18. Congratulations David!

Lisa is a very good designer by the way

  19. Congratulations! I love your blog. :) :)

  20. Ian,

As I mentioned on your site, keep plugging at it and you’ll reach those goals sooner rather than later.

    Beth Ellen,

It’s my pleasure to promote Lisa’s book. I’m sure WordPress will be extremely appreciative of her endeavours.

    Char,

Again, thanks a lot for contributing to The Face Behind The Blog Collection! I’m very happy that were able to take the time to give a glimpse into your personal life.

    Dawud,

As always, I’m appreciative of the vast amount of link love you provide us all with. You’re a great proponent of the I Follow movement, along with Andy, Randa and many others. In my opinion, your website is one of the best examples of how to create an online community there is, so please keep it up.

    Ilker,

Lisa certainly seems to know her stuff! Thanks for dropping in.

    Amanda,

    Two smiles? Love it!

  21. Congrats, David for breaking 2000. Like Dawud said, there’s certainly a lot of interaction in the comment sections of your blog, which is very healthy indeed. :)

  22. Maki,

I wouldn’t have reached the small milestone without you. Keep up the great writing over at Dosh Dosh.
